Wendell Eugene Harris

It is with both sorrow and celebration that we announce the passing of Wendell Eugene Harris, who left this world on April 17, 2025, at the age of 84. Born August 21, 1940, in Yukon, Oklahoma, to Bernice and Atlas Harris, the first of 11 children, Wendell lived a life filled with hard work, craftsmanship, and the enduring love of family and friends.

Wendell served in the United States Army as a carpenter and was stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky. He received the Good Conduct medal, and an expert badge in rifle. After finishing his military career he went on to be a mechanic at Fred Jones Ford, and later on to Locke Supply where he worked and eventually retired as a Carpenter.

Wendell was an avid collector of things, including old cars, motors, and lawn mowers. He loved to tinker and was always working on something. He was a great fisherman, and loved to spend his free time behind his rod and reel. He was a loving father, grandfather, Uncle, and brother.

Wendell is survived by his daughter Melissa Rose and husband Kevin of Kansas City Missouri; son Wendell Dean Harris and wife Jennifer of Yukon, Oklahoma; and Daughter Kimberlie Bivins and husband Joe; grandchildren Jessica Rose, Sacia Thompson and husband Parker, Brock Harris, and Braden Harris; three Great grandchildren Tyler, Waylon, and Allyson; brother Danny Harris; sisters; Mary Harris, Linda Bridges, Lillie Nottingham, Eva Duvall, Charlotte Beadles, Carla DeBoer, Sylvia Nickerson, and Renne McGuire.

Wendell is preceded in death by his parents Bernice and Atlas Harris, and his sister Reta Brown.

A celebration of life in Wendell's honor will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 16th at Briscoe Family Farms, 9900 S.W. 89th Street, Mustang, OK 73064.
