Waymond Blanton Obituary

Waymond Blanton, age 84, died on August 18, 2022 in Oklahoma City. The son of Jewel Earl Blanton & Margaret Hazel (Coleman) Blanton, he was born on January 17, 1938, in Elk City, OK and grew up on a farm at Burns Flat, OK. Following his graduation from Burns Flat High School, Waymond started a Civil Service career at the Air Force Base in Burns Flat in 1959.

In 1963, Waymond moved to Oklahoma City and was blessed with two beautiful daughters. Lisa and Tammy. He worked at the FAA with Contracting until his second retirement in 2014. His favorite hobby was maintaining his landscaping to have the best yard in the neighborhood. He also enjoyed Southern Gospel Music, oil painting, and playing the piano and organ, which he did in the church for several years.

Waymond is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lealon Blanton and Lyndel Blanton; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Treva and Frank Field, and Eva Dene and John Best. He is survived by his two daughters, Lisa Blanton and Tammy Ferren (Larry Ferren); grandchildren, Mariah Haubrick (Cameron Haubrick), Emily Marley (Brett Marley), and Chase Ferren; great granddaughter, Nova Haubrick; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Ann Blanton and Barbara Jean Blanton; his partner of several years, Curtis Thomas, as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.

He appreciated the questioning of "doubting" Thomas who asked Jesus where he was going, to which Jesus gave this reply which is still absolute truth today: "Jesus said unto him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life and NO MAN cometh unto the FATHER, but by ME.’" John 14:6
