Vivian Yates Obituary

Vivian Deloras Yates was born on June 29th, 1932 in Ocilla, Georgia to parents Golden and Grace Kennedy. The story was told that Golden gave the doctor two bales of hay in payment for the delivery.

Vivian and her family moved to Oklahoma City when she was a child. As a teenager, she attended Classen High School and Northwest Baptist Church. When Vivian was a teen she taught herself how to play the piano and played for the rest of her life. Her favorite song was "Clair de Lune."

Vivian was proud of her work history which included the 1st National Bank and the Federal Reserve. She married Jimmie Laverne Yates on May 23, 1953. For the rest of her life there was nothing she would rather do than spend time with Jimmie. She also loved her pets, both cats and dogs, but had trouble remembering their names. This led to every female being named Sister and every male being named Buddy - regardless of whether it was a cat or dog.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Bradley Kent Yates.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen; two granddaughters, Layla Donyai, Laura Hendrix and husband, Scott; two great-grandchildren, Gracie and Brady.
