Tom Thomas Obituary

Thomas B. Thomas, IV passed away on June 13, 2022, at the age of 74 years. "Tom" was born on May 3, 1948, in Nanticoke, PA to his parents, Thomas B. Thomas III and Llewella Thomas. He grew up in that small town in northeast Pennsylvania playing with friends and attending school. He left home when he was 20 working a few different jobs before entering the United State Air Force where he served for six years in Vietnam supporting the war effort by moving heavy equipment. After his time in the Air Force, Tom worked various jobs including several years as a supervisor for UPS, finally retiring from Tinker Air Force Base in 2010.

He met his wife, Sandi while at work and they were married May 14, 2005. Tom was a simple man and together he and Sandi lived a simple life which enabled them to care for the interests of others. Tom was influential in helping start the Yukon Veterans Museum and invested countless hours volunteering in any way that was needed. Some weekends, he and Sandi would load up on his motorcycle trike and meet up with other motorcycle enthusiasts for a weekend camping trip.

Tom battled health issues for the past two years spending more time than he wished in the care of hospitals and physicians. During his most recent hospital stay Tom was visiting with his pastor, and during that visit he trusted Jesus as his personal Savior and Lord.

Tom's sister, Beverly May Thomas, was one of his life anchors and they shared deep and lengthy phone conversations every week. Tom was one of her final living family members, and she will miss him greatly. Tom never wanted to be a burden to anyone, but he gladly bore the burdens of others. He was a simple man who lived a simple life. He lived his life in ways that allowed him to simply love his family and friends.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Llewella Thomas. He is survived by his wife Sandi Thomas; his daughters, Sarah Newman and her husband, Jason, and Tanya Downing and her husband, Brad; his sister, Beverly May Thomas; grandchildren, Kimberly Downing, Haley Downing, and Olan Newman; and an untold number of friends who think of him as family.
