Stephen Reece Converse, a beloved husband, son, dad, adored "Papa," and a friend to many, passed away on December 10, 2023, at the age of 69. Born on October 12, 1954, in Oklahoma City, Steve lived a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories.
Steve's warm heart and infectious smile brought joy to the lives of all who knew him. He had a genuine love for people and possessed a special talent for forming deep and meaningful connections. Whether it was his family, friends, or colleagues, Steve's compassion and kindness radiated through every interaction.
He dedicated his career working for a print bindery company as an estimator. It was his love for books that truly captivated him. Steve would often be found engrossed in a captivating novel by Mark Twain.
Aside from his professional pursuits, Steve had a zest for life and a sense of humor that would fill a room with laughter. He had a genuine talent for telling dad jokes and sharing witty anecdotes that brought joy to those around him. His love for adventure led him on exciting journeys, where he found solace in fishing and exploring new places. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Papa." His unwavering love for them brought immense happiness to his heart.
In his younger days, Steve pursued a career as an X-ray technician, exemplifying his passion for aiding others in their time of need. This compassionate spirit stayed with him throughout his life, touching the hearts of all who encountered his genuine care and support.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents - Harry & Ruby Converse.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Jana Converse, who stood by his side through every joy and challenge. His memory will forever be cherished by his brother - Stan Converse of Longmont, CO. Sons - Philip Norwood & wife, Autumn and Jeremy Norwood & wife, Jacqui Ford. His Daughter - Melissa Chapman. He had 9 Grandchildren - Justin Norwood, Maylee Chapman, Jacob Norwood, Annie Norwood, Jonah Norwood, Denver Norwood, Lily Norwood, Tucker Lopez and Ryann Lopez. His Great-Granddaughter was Lyndee Norwood. He also had many cousins & life long friends.
As we gather to remember and celebrate Steve's remarkable life, we invite you to join us in honoring his memory. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday December 21,2023 at 2:00PM at the Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary in Yukon, OK. Steve will be laid to rest with a private burial at the Yukon Cemetery.
Steve's legacy will live on through the memories shared by those fortunate enough to have known him. His warmth, laughter, and love will forever remain in our hearts.
