Sosamma Mathew, known as Thankamma to family and friends, was born in Velloor, Kerala, India in January 1932. She was the second oldest child to the late Mathew and Mariamma. In 1948, she married the love of her life, Korah (Kunjunju), and they settled down as rubber farmers. The Lord later blessed them with two beautiful daughters, Leelamma and Ponnamma. During her lifetime, Thankamma spent 52 years of her life in Kerala and the remaining 40 years in Oklahoma.
Everyone who had the pleasure of meeting or being in the same room with her knew she was a God-fearing and servant-hearted woman, helping people in various ways. In India, she was very involved in the Manarcad St. Mary's Jacobite Church. In Oklahoma, she was also involved with St. George Syriac Orthodox Church. Besides spending time at church, Thankamma loved to travel and spend time with both her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was close to her six siblings and made sure they were well taken care of. She loved to cook and always made sure everyone else was well fed before she ate.
Thankamma is preceded in death by her parents Chikkuparambil and Mariamma Mathew and her husband, Korah Mathew.
She is survived by her children, Leelamma & Othera P (Sunny) Jacob, Ponnamma & Jacob (Geigy) Mathew; grandchildren: Sonia & Jacob Thomas (OK), Tony & Reena Jacob (AUS), Tonia & Bijoy Samuel (IL), Wesley Mathew(OK), Brinley & Jasmine Mathew (MD); Great-grandchildren: Anjalina Thomas (MA), Ethan Thomas (OK) Liam, Lillah, Logan, Liberty, and Laura Mathew (OK), and Audrey and Xavier Jacob (AUS).
