Samuel Eugene Dunn

Sam Dunn, 93 of Mustang, OK, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 22, 2021. Sam was born in Bradly, Oklahoma on August 8, 1927 to Steve and Flora (Green) Dunn. At an early age the family moved to Yukon, OK where Sam was raised and lived most of his life. At the age of 16 Sam met the love of his life, 14 year-old Margaret Lavern Santin. They both claimed to have fallen in love with each other instantly and stayed true to each other for the next 61 yrs. They were married January 20, 1948 and remained faithful until Margaret passed away on November 23, 2004. To this marriage were born two children: Roselind in 1948 and Sammy in 1950, who married Deanna on June 3, 1971. 

Sam was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing; but as soon as the grandchildren started to come along, he soon realized there was a much greater gift from God - and that was the gift of children. If you knew Sam at all, you knew he thought his family was the greatest gift God could give and he cherished his family greatly. It sometimes got a little presumptuous listening to Sam brag because he thought his family could do no wrong, and that they were perfect. Once he got started talking about them, he just would not shut up. 

Sam had 5 grandchildren: Heather & Andrew, Wally, Kasie & Jeff. From these grandchildren, Sam enjoyed 11 great grandchildren: Kelsey & Chris, Bubby & Evelin, Hopey & Chris, Christian, Briiana, Allison, Anna, and Kendall. From these great grandchildren, "Papa Dunn," as he was known, enjoyed 6 ½ great, great grandchildren Lilli, Jack, Maizy, Lorelai, Elleanor, and Kyland, the family reserves the right to name the 7th great, great, grandchild at a later date, but Papa Dunn was already beginning to brag about how great this child was going to be. Papa believed that children were the greatest gift that God could give, so therefore he was abundantly blessed. No words can describe how much Papa Dunn will be missed, but we know this: he is looking down on us all while holding hands with Mammie saying, "aren't they a beautiful heritage from the Lord."

A Remembrance of Sam E. Dunn, Sr. will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the El Reno Cemetery under the pavilion in El Reno, Oklahoma. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm at Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary in Yukon.
