Ruby Edna (Alley) Griffith

Ruby Edna Griffith was born as the seventh child of eleven children on November 25, 1922, in Boles, AR to James and Cerilla Cordelia Alley. Ruby passed away on July 9, 2020, at Spanish Cove Retirement Center in Yukon, OK.

Ruby's family moved to Mason, OK when Ruby was age 5. Ruby attended Mason Schools until graduating in 1941. At East Central College in Ada, OK she earned a BS in Education, then later followed with an MS degree from Loma Linda University in California. Over the years she taught elementary school in Oklahoma, Maryland, Illinois and California. She also taught for the US Air Force in Japan, Germany, and Tripoli.

Traveling was Ruby’s favorite activity. During her life, she was fortunate enough to visit all seven continents and the fifty states. After living in California for nearly 40 years where she retired from teaching, Ruby decided to move closer to surviving relatives and moved to Spanish Cove Retirement Center in Yukon, OK. In 2005, she met and married Tim Griffith, another resident. They were quite active and enjoyed traveling together and a variety of activities.

Ruby Griffith is preceded in death by parents, James and Cerilla, husband Tim, 3 brothers, 6 sisters and many close friends. Ruby is survived by brother Talmadge Alley of MO, and many nephews, nieces, and friends.

Friends and family are invited to a viewing on Tuesday, July 14th, 2020 from 9-11 AM and 6 - 8 PM at Ingram, Smith and Turner Mortuary, 201 E. Main St., Yukon, OK. A private burial will be held at Schoolton Cemetery in Cromwell, OK next to her parents and sister, Helen Alley Jones. The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Spanish Cove Retirement Center. They took special care of her!
