Roy Baumann Obituary

Roy Charles Baumann, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on August 31, 2021, at the age of 92. He was born to parents Ferdinand and Adeline Baumann on March 7, 1929, in Chicago, IL. When his mother passed away when Roy was 8 years old, he went with his brother Gilbert to live with his Grandmother Baumann. Roy grew up around many aunts and uncles.

Roy was introduced to Marilyn Eleanor Mikkelson as a young adult when they both rented rooms from Roy's family. They committed their lives to each other on March 21, 1952. Roy served in the Army during the Korean War, showing his dedication and pride for his country. Following his term, he and Marilyn welcomed four children to the world: Joanne, John, James, and Janet. There are many fond memories shared with Roy and the children. They went on several canoe trips on the Canada and Minnesota boundary water with their canoe named "Good Ship Lollipop." Roy would sneak extra cookies they brought and blame it on the squirrels.

Roy excelled in his career as an attorney. He had a private practice in Hartford, Wisconsin. His greatest achievement included winning a case with the state supreme court. He left private practice and spent 23 years with the federal government. Following retirement, Roy and Marilyn lived in both Hot Springs, AR and Eureka Springs, AR, before settling in Spanish Cove Retirement Community in Yukon, OK. At their residence, Roy worked on puzzles, played chess, and was an exceptional bridge player. The staff and residents at Spanish Cove delighted in their relationships with Roy and Marilyn over the past 13 years. All those who knew and loved Roy will miss him dearly.

Roy Charles Baumann is preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Baumann, daughter Joanne Fredrickson, sons, John and James Baumann, and parents, Ferdinand and Adeline Baumann. He is survived by his daughter Janet Baumann, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Roy's life will be honored on Tuesday, September 7th, 2021, at 2 PM at Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary in Yukon.
