Roger Reid Obituary

Roger Reid, known to his family simply as “The Dad” passed away on June 11, 2026, at the age of 89, just weeks shy of his 90th birthday. Roger was born on August 5, 1936, in Columbus, Ohio, to Lloyd and Edith (Snader) Reid, the oldest boy among ten children and the third child overall, behind two older sisters. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before settling into the career he was truly built for: sales. Over the years Roger sold furniture, RVs, and homes, and never met a stranger he couldn’t talk to for at least twenty minutes. In 1969, Roger moved his family from Ohio to Orange County, California, where he raised his “kidlings” through countless late nights of Euchre, Hearts, and Pinochle around the kitchen table and more” Good Googely Moogely’s” than anyone could count. In 2011, he relocated to Tulsa and later Skiatook, Oklahoma.

Roger was married to Patricia (Otis) from March 1959 to 1983, and later to Fran from 1986 to 1991; Fran passed away in 2000. One of the greatest gifts Roger gave his children was his lasting friendship with Patricia and her husband, Danny Otis, long after the marriage ended, the kind of grace that shaped how his kids came to understand love and family. Roger was a devoted father to four children: Rick, Denise, Debbie, and Lori. Roger and Rick were joyfully reunited just a few years ago, and the time they were given together meant a great deal to both of them. Roger was a staunch conservative who never shied away from sharing his opinions, a lifelong Angels fan, fisherman, and a man of strong Christian faith, one he worked to pass down to his kids. He cherished the trips he took with his brother Ed and Ed’s wife, Peggy. In the fall of 2021, Roger was diagnosed with aggressive cancer and fought it with every bit of the determination and stubbornness he was known for.

Roger is survived by his children: Rick (Diane) McCartney, and their children Amanda and Bradley; Denise (Jeff) Rodman, and her children Katelynn Rodgers and Macy (Nikki) Pierce; Debbie Reid (Chad Johnson), and her daughters Nichol Isobe and Jennifer Isobe (Callie Samila); and Lori (Duane) Powers, and their children Rebekah (Christian) McGehee, Haley, Luke, Megan, and Taylor Powers. He is also survived by his brothers Ed (Peggy) and David (Roberta), his former wife and friend Patricia (Danny) Otis, and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 15, 2026, at Novation Church in Westminster, Colorado.
