Robert James Kelsh

Robert James Kelsh, Jr passed away on March 31, 2025, in Yukon, OK at the age of 67 after a long battle with prostate cancer.

Robert was born to parents Helen and Robert Kelsh on August 2, 1957 in Buffalo, NY. He attended high school in Downy, California graduating with the Warren High School class of 1975.

Robert enlisted in the United States Navy where he served on the USS White Plains throughout Asia. He was humble about his service and patriotic to the core.  

Robert met Kay Seiger while playing basketball at church and their relationship began.  The two were married February 15, 1986 on Catalina Island. Although the marriage was not destined to remain, the couple was blessed with three children Courtney Ann, Alysa Kirstin, and Zachary Andrew whom they loved very much.  

After an honorable discharge from the US Navy, Robert found work as a ditch digger and welder (although not a very good one) in the natural gas industry. He had a work ethic that was second to none which led him to serve as a crew chief for the majority of his career until retirement.  

Throughout Robert's life, he was known for his sense of humor, outgoing personality, and too many Dad jokes to count. He took a special interest in woodworking and was happiest tinkering in his garage. Robert was known for always purchasing the latest and greatest tool which led to quite the collection over the years.  

Robert was a present father with his children from coaching sports to art classes and piano lessons.  He was one of his children's biggest supporters, brought home candy treats, and made "Dad's Famous Breakfast" on Saturdays. His grandchildren lovingly referred to him as Papa and he was so proud of each and every one of them. 

Robert James Kelsh Jr is preceded in death by his parents Helen and Robert Kelsh and brother in law John Crosson.

Robert is survived by his daughter Courtney Monceret and husband Matt; daughter Alysa Roland and husband Greg; son Zachary Kelsh; seven grandchildren Westly Shope, Ryely Shope, Caitly Shope, Colt Monceret, Payslee Monceret, Braxton Monceret, Ira Roland; sister Dawn Crosson; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Robert's life will be remembered 2pm Saturday April 12, 2025 at Ingram, Smith, and Turner Mortuary with military honors.
