Quentin Beckett Obituary

Quentin Elmer Beckett left for Heaven on June 4, 2025 after a brief but beautiful 16 years on this earth. He was born on December 8, 2008 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to his loving and dedicated parents, Diane and Jonathan. His life has been a journey filled with strength, hope, faith, and love.Quentin, also affectionately known as Q, Q-Dawg, Quentini-wini, Q-berto, and Quebec, was an extraordinary young man. His life was filled with difficulties brought on by his medical complexities, but his disabilities never stopped him from living life to its fullest. As a patient of Bethany Children's Health Center since he was 6 months old, he received the most wonderful and incredible medical care that allowed him to live a life filled with love, comfort, and quality. He enjoyed attending classes with his friends, especially his best friend C. He played with specially adapted toys, where he was able to shoot nerf and water guns (usually at his teachers), propel balls with catapults, and bowl strikes. He acted in plays, took part in 4th of July celebrations, cruised down the halls in costumes for Halloween, opened gifts with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and praised Jesus during Vacation Bible School.Quentin was a 4 time champ of the annual storybook contest, where he dressed as Gimli from Lord of the Rings, Beast of Beauty and the Beast, the Cowardly Lion of Wizard of Oz, and Augustus Gloop of Willy Wonka. His absolute most important win came when he was crowned Prom King, a memory cherished by his family.Q loved all kinds of dances, but his favorites were the Hokey Pokey and cha cha slide. He was able to meet Oklahoma celebrities and athletes, including Miss Oklahoma, Les Thomas, and Jordy Mercer. Q was a huge Oklahoma State fan, and he always loved wearing America's brightest orange. His favorite sport was baseball, and he was able to attend an OKC baseball club game and two performances of the Savannah Bananas (although he rooted for the Party Animals).Q-Dawg enjoyed visits home with his family, and really loved hanging out on the couch with his pups, Hazel and Harvey. Q had the most spectacular birthdays, each milestone celebrated with friends and family. He especially loved movies and tv shows, and easily went through a dvd player annually. His favorite movies and shows included Harry Potter (nursing's fave too), Star Wars, Avatar the Last Airbender, and Pokémon. He was lucky enough to have the entire Harry Potter series read to him by his favorite aide Ms. Debbie.Quentin, a proud Slytherin, was always a fan of bad guys and naughty behavior. He oftentimes played possum, refusing to do anything except in his own time and sometimes with an eye roll. He certainly gave his mom a hard time, falling asleep during visits, only to open his eyes just as she was leaving. But the most important part of Quentin's journey comes from the inspiration he was to his siblings, Gabriel, Tacoma, and Chloe. His brother and sisters adored Quentin, and they loved brushing his hair, putting chapstick on his lips, playing games with him, reading to him, making him listen to music, and above all else, just being with him. His love came through with smiles and hand squeezes. Their love came through with their never ending presence and dedication in his life.To adequately and properly memorialize Quentin's journey, Q and his family would like to thank people who shaped their lives and filled it with joy, kindness, compassion, and love. Thank you to all the St. Francis Children's medical staff who cared for Q in his hardest early moments, especially to Lily, Heather, and Dr. Harp-Wetz. Thank you to our favorite neurologist Dr. Herren and her nurse Rick as well as palliative care doctor Dr. May of OU Children's, each of you were integral in Q's and mom's quality of life. Thank you to our Bethany PS team, Ashley and Elizabeth, who endeavored to make each IEP meeting fun and exciting. And thank you is simply not enough for the entire staff at Bethany Children's, but a special thanks to our educators Mr. Matt, Ms. Camilla, Ms. Catherine, Alane, Emily, and Doris; nurses Angela, Madison, Sherriee, Jessica, Erica, Grandma Ponnamma, Mimi Cheryl, Mama J Janely, Bethany, M'Kynna, Sheridyn, Robby, Yuli, Joshlyn, and Sydney; CNAs/NTs Ruby, Charity, and Taylor; Nurse Practitioners Shelly and Nafeesah; social workers Andrea and Emily; PTs/OTs Ashton, Stephanie, and Morgan; and "secretary" Ms. Beverly. Your dedication to our family has made all the difference in our lives. Thank you from the depths of our hearts. All of you truly exemplify what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ.Quentin leaves behind to remember his unforgettable life his Mom, Dad, and siblings, his Aunt Vanessa and Uncle Mark, Grandpa Becker, Aunties Connie, Katrena, and Crystal, and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, supporters, and loved ones. He was welcomed into Heaven by his dear friend Sofia and his loving and also ornery grandpa Elmer, for whom he was named after.2 Thessalonians 3:16
