Philipose Yohannan (known as Yohanachen) was born on October 28, 1929 in Ezhamkulam, Kerala, India to the late Philipose Cheruvallimoolayil & Mariyamma Philipose who belonged to the Cheruvallimoolayil family.

At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior. He was baptized and filled with the HolySpirit. On February 6, 1950, he married Kunjamma. They both served the Lord in different capacities. The Lord blessed them with two daughters and three sons. He was a very generous man who helped the poor and served the Lord's servants who came to share the gospel in Ezhamkulam, Theppupara, Vayala, and Pannivizha for pioneer work for over three decades. He used to conduct open air meetings, house visits and one-on-one gospel sharing and won many souls for the Lord.

Our Appachen has finished his faithful race on Earth and was promoted to glory on August 20, 2025. He will be remembered for his deep love of singing songs and reading the Bible which brought him peace and joy throughout his life. He was a strong prayer warrior. He found happiness in tending his garden, and he never hesitated to share the fruits of his labor with family, friends, and neighbors. He cherished his wife and showed his love through the tender care he gave her throughout their years together. His devotion was evident in both the big and small moments, and his steady presence was a source of strength for his family. He was remarkably resourceful, always finding a way to fix or mend anything that needed attention, a gift that reflected both his skill and his determination to provide for those he loved. His generosity, faith and warmth touched all who knew him. He loved his family with all his heart and he will be cherished by all. We will miss his smile and laughter dearly, but we have a blessed hope that we will meet him again one day on the other shore.
