Nora Gail Jelinek, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on January 17, 2025, at the age of 69. Gail was born on November 17, 1955, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Carol and Douglas Penix. She married the love of her life, Larry Jelinek, on September 1, 1987.
Gail will be remembered for her love for her family, especially her husband Larry Jelinek, who stood by her side through all of life's adventures. As a mother, she proudly raised her children, nurturing their dreams and making memories together. Her grandchildren were her greatest joys. Gail cherished every moment spent with them, whether fishing at the lake or drawing laughter and love into their lives. She was also a proud great-grandmother.
Gail worked as a telemarketer for American Airlines, where her friendly voice touched countless lives. Her favorite job was working with Spirits of Hope Indian Affairs for women and children of Oklahoma. Her kindness and compassion truly defined her. In her free time, she competed in women's fast draw acquiring many titles such as being the Top Gun female throughout the United States and Canada.
Nora is survived by her loving husband, Larry; her children, Chase Cavaness, and Allie Jelinek Clinton; her grandchildren, Andrew Jelinek, Emily Jelinek, Heaven Autrey, Shalynn Cavaness, and Makia Cavaness; her great-grandchildren, Leia Jelinek and Lathan Jelinek; her sister, Carol Wallace and husband Jim; daughter-in-laws, Darla Parks and Carrie Cochran; and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins. Each of them holds a piece of her in their hearts, and they will forever carry on her legacy of love and laughter. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Carol Penix; son, Ethan Jelinek; sister, Sandra Slovak; brother, Jay Penix; and her niece, Michelle Slovack.
Friends and family are invited to gather in honor of Gail during a Public Visitation on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 10:00AM to 2:00PM at Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 2:00PM at Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary.
Nora Gail Jelinek will be dearly missed, but her love will always surround us. Let us remember the light she brought into our lives.
