Michael Edward Brook

Michael "Mike" Edward Brook, 62, passed away peacefully after a sudden illness on the morning of September 1, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Douglasville, Georgia on February 15, 1960, to Miles Garland Brook and Eleanor Lois Bishop Brook. Garland suffered from years of kidney failure and died when Mike was only eight years old. Mike and Eleanor were blessed to find new love when she married Bill (James William) Newman in 1970. Bill has always been Dad to Mike. The family soon left Georgia to move to Colorado and later to Oklahoma City when Mike was a young teen.

At age 14, Mike met Beth (13), his wife of 41 years. Their love story began and they were young newlyweds on January 2, 1981. Mike graduated from OSU Technical Institute in Okmulgee, OK in 1980 and worked for OG+E for 32 years before retiring due to his health. He was primarily an electrician, but did all manner of trade work and was able to fix anything. He loved his tools and loved to tinker: a fun gift he passed on to his daughter, Michelle. He was a storyteller with the best sense of humor. He loved gospel and country music and had a singing voice that he only shared with his family. His hobbies were road trips home to Georgia, grilling and barbecuing with his famous Mikey Sauce, going to the lake with family, photography, and computers. Mike was a family man and was so proud of his three children. He always bragged about them and followed them through all of their endeavors whether it was cub scouts, ballet, or marching band. His only grandchild was his pride and joy.

Mike was preceded in death by his father Miles Garland Brook and mother Eleanor Lois
Newman. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Ann Ramsey Brook of the home in Yukon, OK; son Andrew William Brook (Yukon, OK), daughter Michelle Elizabeth Brook and son-in-law Kylor Brice (Stillwater, OK), daughter Leigh Ann Brook (Yukon, OK), and granddaughter Wendy Louise Brice (Stillwater, OK); father Bill (James William) Newman (Douglasville, GA); sister Kathy Newman Stephenson and brother-in-law Dave Stephenson (Dawsonville, GA), brother Thomas Newman (Mansfield, GA), brother Tony Newman (Jackson, GA), and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

No services are scheduled at this time. The family is planning a time of remembrance at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mike's favorite charities: Folds of Honor or Wounded Warrior Project.
