Mercy (Samuel) Panicker (Kochumol) was born on September 3, 1957 to the late Vaniumparampil Pastor Gee Varghese Samuel and Rachelamma Samuel, Mavelikara, Kerala, India, and after her education in India she migrated to the United States in 1976.
She married Solomon Panicker from Bombay, India on April 27, 1980. They moved to Bethany, Oklahoma and eventually settled in Yukon, Oklahoma. By God’s grace, they expanded their family with a daughter and two sons, Christina, Charles, and Peter.
After her career from AT&T she pursued her education and graduated in Accounting from Southern Nazarene University in 2004. She was working as an Accountant for the last 18 years at the Department of Corrections in the State of Oklahoma.
She is remembered for hobbies including, gardening (especially roses), cross stitching, crocheting, cooking and baking. She was a member of IPC Hebron, Oklahoma. She was active in the Living Life Beyond (LLB) group, donated generously to needy people in the villages of Kerala, and was involved in many spiritual activities. She visited many homes and blessed them with her gift of cross stitching of Bible verses. She used her spiritual gifts and God given talents to glorify God. She was a prayer warrior and would be hard pressed to miss any church services or weekly meetings. Her prayerful life, passion for Christ, and the enthusiasm to fulfill her responsibilities in a spiritual way was always an encouragement to all family members and believers.
Mercy was diagnosed with stage four cancer in April 2022. She started treatment, but the cancer proved to be the aggressive type. After a few changes in therapy, she decided to forgo treatment in May 2023, entered hospice care, and waited on the Lord. She was surrounded with family and friends for the last few months, enjoying the prayer and fellowship which each heart brought. She went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2023. We know she is at peace.
Her courage and strong faith and great blessed hope during her sickness are an example to all believers. The family would like to extend their appreciation to all the friends and family members who showed their love and support.
She is survived by her husband Solomon Panicker and her children, Christina, Charles & Sheba and Peter. She is also survived by her four siblings George Samuel (wife Sophy), Johnson Samuel (wife Omanakutty), Jaya Cherian (husband Pastor K K Cherian), Abraham Samuel (wife Jessy), and Solomon’s siblings Akkamma Panicker and Anny George. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and relatives that have very fond memories. She will be deeply missed.
