Melanie McGlone Obituary

"Wind rushing past my face, hair tossing behind my head. The feeling, the chill, the utter thrill. The feeling I get when I'm flying down the hill..." Melanie Angelina McGlone was no Olympic hopeful, but she loved the sense of freedom she felt gliding down the snow packed slopes. Her love for the snow was only outweighed by love she shared with her family and grandchildren.

Melanie was born on December 1, 1955, to Buddy and Shirley Patterson in Soap Lake, Washington. Her father was in the Air Force which led to Melanie living in Washington State, South Carolina, Georgia, and finally in Oklahoma where she settled for her adult life. Living for a time in Weatherford, she opened Mel's Diner, Disco Dyndi's, and Fibber McGee's, an Irish restaurant and bar.

Melanie was a member of the Yukon Baptist Church. She liked to quilt and make tablecloths. She was an accomplished painter using acrylics to paint scenery. She also loved cooking, especially Chicken Alfredo.

Melanie is preceded in death by her parents Buddy and Shirley Patterson, and her ex-husband, Raymond McGlone. She is survived by her husband Stan Smith, her daughter Melena McGlone, and her brother Mike Patterson and his wife Jessie. She is also survived by Stan's three children, Jake Smith, Justin Smith, and Jared Smith, along with their spouses and fourteen grandchildren.
