Mark C Myers, a lifetime resident of El Reno, passed from this life on August 29, 2020, at the age of 69. Mark was born to parents Frank and Jonnie Myers on October 7, 1950, at the El Reno Sanitarium. He graduated from El Reno High School in 1968, from ERJC in 1972, and attended Southwestern. A few years after graduation, in 1971, Mark married the love of his life and best friend, Vicki Russell. They tackled life’s challenges, supported each other’s accomplishments, and walked the journey of life hand-in-hand for 49 incredible years. Together they raised two daughters, Jani and Holli, and laid to rest their infant son, Cory Mark. Mark believed in family, friends, hard work, and El Reno.
Early in life, Mark showed dedication to his country as he joined the Air Force. As a young man, Mark dedicated himself to the Rock Island Railroad. He cultivated discipline, persistence, and the importance of hard labor. After leaving the railroad, he spent the rest of his career in the oil field.
Mark’s family and community were especially important to him. He volunteered for Russell-Murray Hospice for many years, and he was also a member of the Church of Christ, willing to help whenever there was a need. Mark was humble and kind yet knew many in the community and supported their local businesses. He was known to tease everyone, but most of all loved his family and was a proud “Ahpa” to his granddaughter, Avery. Mark’s legacy will be remembered in the love and memories that remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and community. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Mark is once again reunited with his son Cory, his parents Frank and Jonnie Myers, Vicki's parents John and Marie Russell, brother Steve Myers, and nephew John Timothy Davis.
Those awaiting to see him again include his wife Vicki and chihuahua Maia; daughters Holli Nelson and husband Ross, and Jani Coughlan and husband Shannon; grandchildren Avery Jones, Gage Coughlan, and Audrey Coughlan; sister-in-law Carol Davis and husband John; brothers Kent Myers and wife Misty, Danny Myers and wife Donna, and Frankie Myers and wife Chere'; sister-in-law Ellen Ray Myers; nieces and nephews Brandon McWilliams and wife Staci, Evan Davis, Brad Myers and wife Kari, Scott Myers and wife Deanna, Chris Myers and wife Melinda, Jodi Pierce and husband Kris, Richard Myers and wife Lisa, Levi Myers and wife Ursula, Pauline Gresham and husband Garrett, Kady Myers, Clara Myers, Kaci Gayle Myers, Hayden Hefner, and the Davis, George, and Ford Families. He is also survived by numerous great nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Baptist-Integris staff and LVAD team, who gave Mark almost ten extra years of life. Thanks also to the Russell-Murray Hospice team. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Russell-Murray Hospice in El Reno or the Oklahoma Blood Institute.
A service to honor Mark’s life will be held Thursday, September 3rd, 2020 at 10 AM at Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary at 201 E Main St, Yukon, OK with burial to follow at the El Reno Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 2nd from 12 noon – 8 PM at Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary.
