Marion Nelson Barton passed away on January 14, 2020, at the age of 66. Marion was born to parents Rex Barton & Julia Graham on November 11, 1953, in Oklahoma City.
Growing up in Bethany, Oklahoma, Marion loved to watch western movies, spend time with his family, and read about history, especially the Civil War. His favorite spot to find adventure was at his Uncle Herman's ranch in Newalla, Oklahoma. Marion and LaWanda were friends throughout their childhood from their first introduction in the third grade until they parted ways after high school. A chance encounter at their 30th High school reunion, secretly set up by LaWanda's sister, brought them back together: they quickly reunited, fell in love, and married just 3 months later on November 1, 2002.
Throughout Marion's life, he was known for his role as the family historian and excelled for 25 years as a maintenance technician for Central Services. Marion will be missed by all who knew him and loved him dearly.
Marion is preceded in death by his parents Rex & Julia Barton. Marion is survived by his beloved wife LaWanda Barton; son John Means & wife Kelly; daughter Courtney Roberts; and his 5 grandchildren Payton Means, Parker Means, Hayden Roberts, Princess Haylee Roberts, & Cooper Allen.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary in Yukon Oklahoma.
Marion's life will be remembered on Monday, January 20, 2020, at 1:00 PM at the Yukon Church in Yukon, OK. A private family burial will take place on a later date. Services are under the direction of Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary in Yukon, OK.
