Maria de la Paz Medina Treece, age 80, graduated into her heavenly home on January 19, 2021. She was born in Autlan, Jalisco, México on May 17, 1940.
Paz was raised in two small communities where she learned the art of needle work. Whether cross- stich, crochet, quilt or sewing needle, she was an expert. She had a thirst for knowledge and took classes in many subjects. She eventually took accounting and secretarial classes. This lead her to move to México City in 1961 where she got a job at international accounting company, Peate, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. Once she moved to the city she brought her sister, parents and foster children with her. She was the primary supporter for her family. Paz knew that if she learned English she could be sent abroad and bring in a bigger income for her family. She was sent to Oklahoma City in November of 1971. She was introduced to Larry Treece on a blind date for the company Christmas party. They were married nine months later on September 16, 1972, celebrating her beloved Mexico’s independence.
Paz and Larry had a daughter, Monica and a son, Gregory. She delighted in taking care of her children and home. She was an avid seamstress, loved doing arts and crafts, and had a tremendous green thumb. Paz worked in various retail stores until she retired in 2009. Paz had a giving nature and more than once took care of others who had need of food, shelter, clothes. She inspired in her children and grandchildren to follow Jesus and read the Bible.
