Marcia Gibbon Obituary

On March 16, 2020, at 4 a.m., we lost one of the strongest, orneriest, most loving women we’ve ever known. Marcia Wallace Gibbon passed away in her sleep at the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City.

She had all of her children by her side and went peacefully. While we are absolutely heartbroken and already missing her terribly, we know that she is finally pain free. These last 5 years she has fought such an uphill battle with her health. But, being who she is, she kept fighting. We like to think it was her stubbornness and the Marine in her that kept her going.

With that said, these last 6-8 months you could tell she was just getting tired and her body was failing her. Selfishly, we wish we had more time with her, but we all find peace in knowing she is pain free and was able to know just how loved she was by all of us. While this is an extremely difficult time, we know that she would not want us to mourn her life, but to celebrate it.

She was such a beautiful person inside out. While she was stubborn and opinionated, she had the kindest soul. She would give you the shirt off her back without thinking twice. We will sure miss her smile and her feisty attitude, but we know that she will always be with us. We love and miss you, grandma!

Marcia is preceded in death by her parents James and Bernadine Wallace, and sister Marolyn Hady. She is survived by her brother James & wife Mary Jane Wallace; sisters Susan Sjolin, and Karen Pond; sons Michael & wife Cheryl Gibbon, David Gibbon, and Mark & wife Mary Lynn Gibbon; daughters Cher-Ri Helm, and Jacqueline & husband David Pride; grandchildren Tiffany, Nichole & husband Patrick, Shawna, William, Ashley & husband Trey, and Thomas; and great-grandchildren Rosa, Wyatt, Alexis, Noah, Caelen, Remi and Quaid.
