Lynell Sue (Gunkel) Hansen

Lynell (Mom) S. Hansen, (Gunkel), was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma, and grew up in Coyle, Oklahoma. She graduated from Coyle High School in 1964 and was proud to have played and lettered in basketball during her school years.
Lynell was a woman of faith who believed in God and in the restoration of lives. She had a generous spirit, a warm heart, and a way of making people feel welcome. She truly never met a stranger. She loved to sing, laugh, and have a good time, bringing joy and energy wherever she went.
She worked hard for many years in the mortgage industry, where she met many friends throughout her career. Her dedication, kindness, and outgoing personality left a lasting impression on those who knew and worked with her.
Lynell loved her family with her whole heart. Her children, grandchildren, extended family, and many cousins meant the world to her. She also had a deep love for animals and cared for them dearly.
She found happiness in the simple and meaningful things: cooking, baking, barbecuing, and gathering family around the table. She especially loved preparing meals for those she loved. Lynell enjoyed music and loved to sing, with favorites including Patsy Cline, Elvis Presley, Crystal Gayle, and many others. Her wedding song with Tom, "We've Only Just Begun" by The Carpenters, held a special place in her heart.
Lynell loved owls and cardinals, and her favorite color was turquoise. She also loved the holidays, especially Christmas. Every year, she decorated her table and tree festively, creating warmth and beauty for her family. She enjoyed Halloween too, especially seeing the trick-or-treaters, and she found joy in celebrating every season.
Lynell is preceded in death by her parents, Linford and Geraldine Gunkel; husband Tom Hansen, and brother Rick Gunkel.
She is survived by her children, Kelli and Sheldon Thompson, Staci Newton, and Chad and Kathy Horne; Grandchildren, Lyric Morris, Bradley Horne and many extended family and cousins. Lynell will be remembered for her faith, her strength, her work ethic, her joyful spirit, and the deep love she gave to her family and friends. Her life was filled with music, laughter, and love. Lynell will be laid to rest in the Yukon Cemetery next to her beloved Tom.
