Linda Lawson Obituary

Linda Jean Lawson died on May 4, 2022 at the age of 72 after a courageous and odds beating battle with ovarian cancer for nearly 5 years. She was born July 16, 1949 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City to Harold James Lawson and Jean Claire (Fry) Lawson.

Linda grew up on her family's farm southwest of Yukon. In her youth she was active in 4-H club where she received many local and state awards in her project areas of safety and electricity. She graduated Yukon High School in 1967.

Linda attended Phillips University in Enid and Oklahoma City Community College in Oklahoma City. In 1978 she graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. As an adult she enjoyed her work as an accountant and was a member of the OKC Association of Women Accountants.

Linda's faith was a sustaining part of her life. Her favorite Bible scripture was, "I lift up my eyes to the hills - where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." (Psalm 121: 1-2). She was an active member of West Point Christian Church where she taught Sunday School classes, served as Chair of the Board, and served on the worship committee for several years.

Linda loved spending time with her family and taking photographs. In later years, Linda enjoyed learning about genealogy and discovering her family's history.

Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Paul Lawson, her parents Harold and Jean Claire Lawson, grandparents Robert Lair Fry, Jeanne Rice Fry, Floyd James Lawson, Myrtle Fern Kissick Lawson and Ralph Lawson. She is survived by her sister, Sue Turner of Yukon; her sister's daughters: Amy Chase and husband Andy and daughters Abby and Anna of Jones and Teri Wyatt and husband Michael of Piedmont. She is survived by her brother's widow Shanna Chechovsky Lawson of Yukon and their children: Whitney Lawson Hollar and daughter Stella Kay Gebard and Dr. Kaylan Weese and husband Dr. Joshua Weese of Roseburg, Oregon, and their daughters, Maeva, Margot and Sydney. She is also survived by her aunt, Floydeen Bruce and husband Harry of Texas and cousins Nancy Rice and husband Tom of Colorado, Mike Fry and wife Beth of Yukon along with numerous extended relatives and dear friends.
