Leon Arthur Bomhoff passed away on March 4, 2026, at the age of 83. He was born to parents Betty and Alvin Bomhoff in El Reno, Oklahoma where he grew up alongside his sisters Beverly and Judy. He attended Lutheran school in Okarche through sixth grade and graduated with the El Reno High School class of 1957.
Leon married Sherry Smith and from that union was blessed with two children Troy Dean and Lisa Dawn. He loved his children and worked hard to provide a good life for them. Leon had a strong work ethic that he passed on to them.
Leon was happiest sitting on one of his tractors outdoors. His father was a farmer and Leon spent most of his life as a wheat farmer. He also enjoyed working with his hands doing mechanic work from farm equipment to his riding lawn mower. Leon was a good, honest, hardworking man that would put others before himself.
Leon met Janice Thompson and the two found a lifelong partner in one another. The two were married August 26, 1988 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. From this union, Leon gained three children Jim, Justin, and Malinda completing their family of seven. They enjoyed spending quality time together, checking cattle, and having their grandchildren visit. One of his favorite roles was being Grampie to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Leon is preceded in death by his parents Betty and Alvin Bomhoff; and sister Judith Davis. Leon is survived by his wife Janice Bomhoff; son Troy Bomhoff and wife Cindy; daughter Lisa Bomhoff; son James Thompson; son Justin Thompson; daughter Malinda Stilley and husband Mike; grandchildren Seth Bomhoff, Alexa Myles and husband Tom, Elizabeth Brown, Heather Thompson, Derek Thompson and wife Taylour, Trevor Thompson and wife Micalah, Jentri Thompson, Ryder Thompson, Baylor Stilley and wife Madison, McKinley Drinnon and husband Reese, Presley Stilley, Cale Stilley, and Kross Stilley; great granchildren Leon, Dean, John, Brynston, Bryson, Lincoln, and Jaxxyn; sister Beverly Barber along with his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Leon's honor Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 10 AM at Ingram, Smith, & Turner Mortuary, 201 E. Main in Yukon. A Graveside service will follow at Canadian Valley Cemetery in Calumet at 11:30 AM.
