Lawanda Mae (Burger) Elkins

Lawanda Mae Elkins, 92, of Yukon, passed away on April 1, 2023. Lawanda was born to parents Clyde Burger and Nellie Burger on September 8, 1930, in Stroud, OK. She grew up in Sparks, OK and later moved to Oklahoma City where she met her husband William "Bill" Elkins. They were married for 50 years and raised four children whom they loved very much.

Throughout Lawandas life, she cared for many children in her home and owned and operated Tan-Fastic & Wild Hair Salon for 25 years. She loved talking to people; no one was a stranger to her. She was known for colorful personality, beautiful smile, and loving heart. She was "grandma" to everyone she met. What Lawanda loved most though, was spending time with her family; especially supporting her grandkids in all of their sporting activities and cheering them on from the sidelines.

Lawanda will be missed by all who knew her and loved her dearly.

Lawanda is preceded in death by husband William "Bill" Elkins, great granddaughter Peyton Dobbins, siblings Albert Burger, Delbert Burger, Glendola Wood-Randall, Roy Burger, Ruby Sparks, Billy Burger, Vivian Campbell, Betty Burger, Earl Burger, Orville Burger, Clarence Burger, Alfred Burger, and Louise Burger. Lawanda is survived by four children Nellie Lee, Eddie Elkins, Gail Shutrump, and Twila Jackson; six grandchildren Mike Lee, James Lee, Shila Dobbins, Patrick Shutrump, Courtlyn Elkins, and Hannah Elkins; seven great grandchildren Sheriden Davis, McKinley Lee, Keegan Dobbins, Griffin Lee, Saige Lee, Emma Shutrump, and Sutton Shutrump; two great great grandchildren Vann Michael Russell and William "Bill" Robert Russell; siblings Melvin Burger, Rosa Lea Sturm, Nellie "Gerri" Henson, and Debbie Pruitt.

Lawanda's life will be remembered on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Ingram, Smith and Turner. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ingram, Smith and Turner Mortuary in Yukon.
