Laura Faye (Coston) Kelsey

Good mothers, as all good parents, know the importance of showing up. Nanny (Laura Kelsey) showed up for her loved ones for 90 years. Whether a birthday, baptism, graduation, wedding, or out-of-town basketball game, Nanny was there. She showed up (especially for Bingo). She brought energy and love with her presence. She was quick to take in and nurture, always willing to help. She built the type of presence that leaves a void when it's absent. She is survived by her daughter Debbie, her four children, and grandchildren; her son Melvin and his wife Marsha, their two children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; her daughter Charlotte's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law Tammy, her son, and grandchildren; and her daughter Joann, her two children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Nanny brought so much life into this world starting at her first breath on December 19, 1935. From waitressing, owning her own restaurant, taking flying lessons, racing cars, becoming a remotivation therapist at Spanish Cove, loving her family, and studying the Bible, she lived a full life. She was passionate about her faith and her family. Her tenacity and spirit are rarely expressed traits in people, which represent a beginning to the void her passing represents, wonderfully she built a family that will help one another through tough times. Nanny is preceded in death by her husband Jack, son Richard, daughter Charlotte, son-in-law Donnie, mother Sudie Francis, father Guy Coston, brother Jack, brother Louis, brother Guy, brother Wes, sister-in-laws, and many other family members. Nanny's legacy is, as it always was, those she loved.
