Kunju Kutty Obituary

With heavy hearts, we commemorate the life of our beloved Kunju K. Kutty, who was born in East Kallada, Kerala on April 11th, 1929, to the late Koruthu Unnunny and the late Aleyamma Unnunny. He was the first born of four children, the older brother for three sisters. A man of unwavering faith, boundless love, and remarkable determination, Kunju K. Kutty was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an adoring "Appachen" to his grandchildren.
Kunju K. Kutty was known for his sharp mind and thirst for knowledge. A man of cleverness, he navigated life's challenges with perseverance and wisdom. He spent his youth working and learning in places all over India. In the 1980s, he made the courageous decision to immigrate to Oklahoma, later bringing his young family, seeking a brighter future for his loved ones. His journey was marked by hard work, resilience, and a deep commitment to his family's well-being.
Despite the challenges of building a life in a new country, Achayan never wavered in his dedication. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, and instilled in his children the values of faith, the importance of education, and perseverance-values he embodied in every way, by helping to found the Mar Thoma Church of Oklahoma and working several jobs to support his family and friends.
Kunju Kutty Achayan found immense joy in the love of his family and edified himself as the pillar of the family. Whether it was evenings filled with stories from his life in India, or moments spent nurturing his grandchildren, his love was evident in every interaction. He was not only a provider but also a mentor and friend, always ready with a story, a smile, or a warm hug, especially for his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Aleyamma Kutty, his sister Lilly Strout (and husband, Andrew Strout); his children and their spouses, John K. Varghese (and wife, Mini Varghese), Gracy Koshy (and husband, Silas Koshy), and Denny Varghese (and wife, Jolly Varghese); and his loving grandchildren (Sheena John, Sherin John, Nathan Varghese, Ashley Varghese (Koshy), Bradley Koshy, Alyssa Varghese, and Andrew Varghese).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Koruthu Unnunny and Aleyamma Unnunny, his in-laws, Philipose John and Kunjamma John, and his two sisters, Babykutty Pappachen and Annamma Vastin. He leaves behind a legacy of love, intelligence, hard work, and an unshakable faith in God.
As per his wishes, his final resting place will be at Yukon Cemetery, where we entrust him into God's hands, assured that he has found eternal peace.
Though his absence leaves an aching void, we take comfort in commemorating a life well-lived. May his memory live on in our hearts, and may his soul rest in the everlasting embrace of our Lord.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
- 2 Timothy 4:7
