Kiriyan George Obituary

Kiriyan George (Pappa) was born on Jan 30, 1939 to Mathai Kiriyan and Soshamma Kiriyan in Kerala, India. Born in the Kozhikode village of the fertile district of Kollam (Quilon), he took to farming with his father from a young age.

Pappa was the middle child of five children, yet he always served and loved others as an older brother. In pre-independent India, he was formally educated at Nellikunnam Primary School and SKV High School before he joined his father in the family farming business.

He was united in marriage with Marykutty George at the St. George Orthodox church in 1965 and they were blessed with four daughters. Pappa also served a trustee in the same church but being a people person, struck a fine balance by dabbling in politics and social service.

An outdoorsman and a hard worker, Pappa later on began a rubber trading business which made him a farmer by day and entrepreneur by night, which he continued till he immigrated to America in 2006. He has lived in Oklahoma since then with his youngest daughter's family.

While he loved and took care of his grandchildren here in Oklahoma, he was always very concerned and connected to his daughters and grandchildren in India along with all other family members. He used to always call all of them and stay in touch so much that he was the conduit of information about these families between America and India.

Pappa is a picture of the fruit of the spirit, epitomized by his patience, kindness, gentleness, and more. His love for children is a great reflection of Jesus' love for the little ones. For him meeting family members and friends was not only a matter of joy but also a celebration that was really infectious. He truly honored Jesus' commands to love his neighbors as he loved himself.

Pappa was promoted to glory on Jun 07, 2022 and is survived by his wife and all four daughters who miss him badly but remember him as a wonderful father, loving husband, doting grandfather and kind human being. Thank you for joining us today to honor and remember him and we look forward to seeing him again in Christ.
