Josiah James-Earl Hill passed away on April 14, 2021 at the age of 19. Josiah was born to parents Herbert Hill and Veonna Green on November 20, 2001 in Lawton. He grew up in Lawton and loved music and dance. Throughout Josiah's life, he was known for his musical talents of playing piano by ear, playing percussion in the band at school, playing the drums at church, dancing, and of course smiling.
Josiah gave his life to Christ at the age of 6 and began witnessing almost immediately. He explained that if you didn't accept Christ before baptism, then you are just "going swimming." At the age of 4 he became the youngest executive board member of the NAACP youth chapter and later became a lifetime member. Josiah was not only a cancer fighter, he was also a fighter on the mat. By the age of 8 he became a national champion taking 1st place in weapons and 1st place in forms in Taekwondo. He was also a clogger in the Kickers of Lawton. In 8th grade, Josiah was chosen and invited to participate in Duke University's TIP program for academically gifted students. Josiah was also a volunteer sitter for SW Oklahoma Hospice.
At the age of 16, he was asked to began preparing to be a youth pastor at Life Church in Oklahoma City. He never worked a job for pay because he was busy doing God's work. After his first diagnosis in 2017 at the age of 15, he began to walk in his purpose. Josiah could be found around Oklahoma City at numerous homeless camps feeding those in need and giving away his own clothes and shoes. Even during the pandemic he provided hugs, smiles, and prayers to all who wanted or needed them. Josiah will be missed by all who knew him and loved him dearly.
Josiah James-Earl Hill is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Barbara Williams paternal grandfather Wallace Hill Jr. Josiah is survived by his maternal great-great grandmother Francis Nunn; maternal great grandmother Dorothy Lee; maternal grandmother Wyonna Alberty, maternal grandfather Eddie James Green, Jr (Sheila), paternal grandfather Wallace Hill Jr.; mother Veonna Butler (Ricky), father Herbert Hill (LaTasha), siblings Caleb James Nelson and Jecoliah B. Green; aunts and uncles Pamela Green, Charlette Green, Cheryl Green, Enrico Green (Darlene), Eddie Green III, Helena Green, Genesis Green, Jean Gillard, Jacqui Hill, Valencia Adams, Wallace Hill (Lawanda), Tanika Hill, and Danica Hill; a host of cousins; God parents Harold and Betty Davis; special Aunt Tamika Green, Aunt Zoe and Mike "Papi" Berry, and prayer partners Raymond and Teolar Russell.
Josiah's life will be celebrated on April 21, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. John Missionary Baptist Church-Lawton. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, 21st of April, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. John Missionary Baptist Church-Lawton. Services are under the direction of Ingram, Smith &Turner Mortuary in Yukon, OK.
