Jerry Louise Grass, age 79, of Calumet, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. She is preceded in death by her father Odis Moore, her mother Ruby Moore, and her husband Harold Grass. She is survived by her sister Ann Lesperance and husband Wiley, and sister Sheila Moore. She is also survived by four children: Cheryl Grass, James Grass and wife Brenda, Brian Grass and wife Diane, and Christina Grass. She has eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
It is believed her parents named her "Jerry" because they wanted a boy so badly. Throughout her life she had to explain she was not Mr., but a Mrs. due to the spelling of her name. Still yet, Jerry Louise, who also went by Jerry Lou, was one of a kind who will always be remembered as kind, caring, and fun-loving.
Jerry was very loved by everyone in Calumet as a teenager and had many friends who enjoyed being around her because she took interest in them. She was strikingly beautiful, and therefore, caught the attention of many young men. She met an ornery eight-year old Harold, fell in love with him at 16, and remained by his side for forty-one years in marriage. Jerry was the epitome of a caring and patient wife who became the expert at handling and finessing the 'rough around the edges' Harold Grass. There was no question that Harold loved Jerry, and she was everything to him; but most importantly, Jerry loved Harold with a heart of service and devotion.
Jerry was an accomplished and gifted mother and grandmother. She had a special knack in caring and providing a loving home for four children and several grandchildren over the years. She was skilled at organizing and running a busy home where her children never wanted for anything. The Grass household was ran with an efficient homemaker who was up early in the morning and the last one to bed. Jerry always had three meals ready, clothes ready for everyone, everything in its place, and all within a budget. This devotion to her home and family was her way of life, and caring for others made her happy.
In her humble way, Jerry was the best at listening and naturally engaged in a conversation that the person would feel fully understood and accepted. She had a special way of making one feel that he or she was the only person in the world at that moment and trusted with their deepest thoughts. Her Godly wisdom and advice came from her care and love to truly help. She dearly loved her family and friends, and those who had the privilege to know her closely will remember her legacy of love, kindness, and service.
Jerry's life will be honored on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 11 AM at the Coleman Chapel Church of the Nazarene in Calumet. Family will greet friends for a visitation beginning at 9 AM before the service. Jerry will be laid to rest following the service at Calumet Cemetery.
