If you looked up the definition of a self-made man, you'd find a picture of Jerry Cooper. His life was a testament to perseverance, dedication, and the deep love he had for his family.
Born on March 16, 1945, in Peavine, Oklahoma, near Stilwell, Jerry was one of 11 children: three sisters and seven brothers born to Chester and Edna Cooper.
At a young age, Jerry left home and moved to Kansas City, determined to build a better future. It was there that he married the love of his life, Ruby (Green) Cooper on April 7, 1965. Jerry wholeheartedly embraced the role of father to Ruby's five children, and together, they welcomed their son, Robert.
Jerry had long dreamed of owning his own business, and in 1975, that dream became a reality when Jerry and Ruby moved their family to Oklahoma City and founded Central Burial Vaults. Through unwavering dedication and hard work, they built a thriving business: one that continues to serve families today and is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year 2025.
Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruby, his parents, his brothers and a sister, grandson, great-granddaughter, and great-great-grandsons.
Jerry leaves behind a devoted family who will forever cherish his memory:
- Sisters: Ellen and Reba
- Children: Carolyn, Eugene (wife Julie), Kathy (husband Pete Roberts), Sharon (late husband Jeff Klima), Richard (wife Polly), and Robert (wife Melissa)
- Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren
