Janie Meadows Obituary

Janie Sanchez Meadows passed away peacefully at her home on March 10, 2025, in Yukon, Oklahoma at the age of 90.

Janie was born to parents Maria and Serapio Sanchez on August 5, 1934 in Manor, Texas.
She was raised in Austin, Texas alongside her siblings where she graduated high school. Her family moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in her early twenties and she went right to work in the family restaurant El Rancho Sanchez. The family went on to own six locations in the Oklahoma City Metro from 1954 to 1980. Janie worked as a restaurant owner alongside her brother Ray at the 38th and North May Avenue location for ten years.

Janie married Robert Glenn and from that union was blessed with two children Theresa Kay and Robert Rene. She was a mother who was always there and her children's biggest cheerleader. One of her favorite roles was being Grandma to her four grandchildren Jennifer, Michael, Cameron, and Haley, six great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

Janie had a work ethic that was second to none. She was best known for her wonderful personality and listening ear. These qualities are what made her so good at working with the public. Janie enjoyed decorating her home and was always drawn to bright colors in both interior design and fashion.

Janie went on to open Don Serapias with Jim Meadows where she finished her career after serving over 30 years in the restaurant business. She and Jim married and were partners for 38 years through life's ups and downs. They enjoyed quality time spent doing everything from window shopping to traveling the world from Rome to Alaska. One of their favorite destinations was Hawaii and they always loved visiting Mexico when they had the chance.

Janie is survived by her husband Jim Meadows; daughter Teri Adams and husband Greg; son Robert Glenn, Jr.; granddaughter Jennifer Smith and husband Frank; grandson Michael Meadows, Jr. and wife Sylvia; grandson Cameron Glenn; granddaughter Haley Bush and husband Casey; six great grandchldren Michael, Sylvia, Chaztain, Jade, Zach, and Mikayla; four great great grandchildren Steven; Elion, Maria, and Lakoah; brother Ray Sanchez, brother Ernest Sanchez; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.

Janie is preceded in death by her parents Maria and Serapio Sanchez; brothers Eulalio, Edward, Frank, and Johnny Sanchez; and sisters Dora Baldazo, Rosie Regalado, and Lily Hernandez.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Janie's honor 6 pm Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Ingram, Smith, and Turner Mortuary. Her rosary service will be held 10 am Friday, March 14, 2025 with an 11 am Mass of Christian Burial following at St John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Yukon. Burial will be 1:30 pm at Resurrection Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
