Janice Gayle Cotter, aged 82, of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born on February 15, 1943, in Walters, Oklahoma, she was the eldest child of Martha and Andrew (Jack) Everly. Jan was a nurturing figure to her brother Gary, often taking on the role of a second mother during their upbringing.
She was united in marriage to Everett Edwin Cotter, II, with whom she shared a loving family that included her children: Diane Renee, Rhonda Lynne, Blake Edward, and John Edgar. As a devoted mother, Janice instilled in her children the importance of hard work and perseverance.
Jan dedicated her professional life to serving as a finance officer at Continental Federal Savings and Loan, where she was known for her integrity and commitment to her role. In addition to her professional achievements, Jan devoted much of her time to serving others. As the nursery coordinator at a local Baptist Church, she cherished the opportunity to nurture and support the youngest members of her congregation, helping them grow in their faith. Later in her life, she joined Christ's Legacy Church, where she loved to attend the ladies meetings and helped in the coffee shop on campus.
Jan will be missed by all who knew her and loved her dearly.
Jan is survived by daughter Rhonda Lynne Weninger (Rick); son Blake Edward Cotter; son John Edgar Cotter (Jaimie); her grandchildren Alec Weninger (Laura); Evan Weninger, Darian Cotter Smith (Austin), Kennedy Cotter (Chance Jolley), Kenndell Cotter Friend (Alex), Jordan Cotter, Lilah Cotter, Avah Cotter, Kamber Austin (Caleb Hayes), Kayla Matherly (Seth), Brianna Cotter, great-grandchildren Callum, Cohen, Collier and Case Smith; Ryatt Paul, Kovey, Kai, and Bear Jolley; Remi and Miller Hayes; Maddelyn, Mia and Walker (arrivng soon) Matherly; Tracen Brantley; brother Gary Everly (Betty) and sister Sharon Blake (Bill).
Jan is preceded in death by her parents; and daughter Diane Renee
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
