Gerald Eugene Hepner

Gerald “Jerry” Hepner passed from this life on January 24th, 2021, at age 89. He was born April 2, 1931, in Alva, OK to Arthur and Pluma Hepner. Upon graduation from Selmon High School in 1949, he enlisted and served in the US Air Force. Jerry received his Bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University (Oklahoma A & M) in 1955 before settling in Yukon in 1963. He was married to Mary Nell Hepner for over 50 years, and they proudly raised four children. He volunteered to play an active role in the Yukon Parks / Recreation and Boy Scouts. Jerry worked for Globe Life Insurance for 30+ years before his retirement in 1993. Jerry will always be remembered for his humble nature, love of dancing, and time enjoyed with his family/friends. He was very proud of his seven grandchildren, who lovingly call him "GranJerry."

Jerry is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Nell Hepner, and brothers, Bob and Edmond Hepner. Those left to continue his legacy include his four children, Greg Hepner (wife Jean) of John's Creek, GA, Brad Hepner (wife Michelle) of Edmond, OK, Suzi McMahan of Bixby, OK, and Julie Davis (husband Jeff) of Chesterfield, VA; seven grandchildren: Tyler Hepner, Sarah McMahan, Andy McMahan, Jakob Kilgore, Dylan Hepner (wife Ciara), Austin Kilgore, and Matt McMahan. This list also includes his sister, Lila Parker, and brother, Bill Hepner, along with many nieces and nephews.

Jerry was diagnosed with T1 diabetes in 1951 and proactively worked with doctors to manage this disease throughout his life. He received a 50+ year with T1D medal from The Joslin Diabetes Center for these efforts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Diabetes Association in his name.
