Gale Edward Johnson, born October 10, 1941, in El Reno, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on May 28,2026. He passed peacefully at home with his family, which is where he wanted to be. He was loved by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him.
Gale was born to Helen Lucille and Carl (Salty) Gibson Johnson and spent his childhood in El Reno. He was a Boy Scout, and was involved in theatrical productions, appearing on stage in plays and variety shows. He attended El Reno High School before transferring to Capitol Hill High School (Oklahoma City) where he graduated in 1960. Upon graduation he moved to Yukon, where he raised his family, and lived the remainder of his life.
On September 30, 1967, he married Saundra Lee Buttram, and together they raised a son, Kelly, and a daughter, Allison (Ali).
Gale retired from Seagate in 2001, where he was an Emergency Parts Expediter, sending computer discs and parts all over the world.
As an adult Gale enjoyed many outdoor activities. He was a member of the Yukon Round Up Club, he was a bird hunter, a golfer, a fisherman, a camper, and always enjoyed the beach when he could get there. He loved playing his guitar and singing, and he loved to perform the Confederate Railroad song "Trashy Women". He impacted many young lives as a little league baseball and football coach and thoroughly enjoyed supporting his kids in any sport or activity in which they were involved. He loved his Oklahoma Sooners and was an avid Sooner football fan and was known to parade OU flags around town on game day. Another of his favorite activities was visiting coffee shops or restaurants where he could drink coffee and visit with his many friends. Anyone that knew him could always count on a joke or a story, and probably many of them in one sitting. He loved people and really enjoyed the company of others. He never met a stranger.
Gale was the ultimate Dad, and Paw Paw, and more than anything he loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a kind soul and will be deeply missed by family and friends everywhere.
He was preceded in death by his Father Carl Johnson, his mother Helen Clark, his Brother Gary Johnson, and his Sister Mary Wein.
He is survived by his wife of 58 ½ years, Saundra, son Kelly Johnson and daughter-in-law Angela, of League City, Texas, daughter Ali Barnett and significant other Donnie Ellis of Yukon, Oklahoma, Brother Jerry Kelly, Sisters Nancy Bradford and Sherry Mach, grandchildren Jaiden Prince and significant other Rachelle Turner, Keaton Barnett, Forrest Barnett and wife Madison Barnett, Shelby Barnett and fiancé Austin Joyner, Tyler Soplu, Haley Soplu, Jessi Redd and husband Tristyn, Joedi Murphy, Sydni Williams and husband Deonte, and Great Grandchildren Cruz Prince, Kannon Prince, Cohen Joyner, Koda Barnett, Ryleigh and Dallas Williams, Arden Soplu, and Lennyn Dupuy.
