On September 8, 1941 Eldred James Haynes (Jimmy) was welcomed into this world by his parents, Ina Mae and Raymond Haynes, and by his three brothers, John, Jack, and Joe, as well as his two sisters Ruby and Lucille.
Jimmy was a special child. His life was family centered. His mother, the daughter of the pastor, taught him to read from the Bible and the daily newspapers. This love of words lasted throughout his life.
His interests and needs were modest; however, his sensitivity for the needs of others became a life-long devotion. Once he walked for two hours to donate twenty-five cents to a stricken child.
Much of Jimmy’s life was spent in the Oklahoma City and Yukon Boys Homes, where he learned to work with his hands-on assembly projects, earning enough money to purchase Birthday and Christmas cards for friends and relatives.
Jimmy was an active member of the Yukon Methodist Church. His on-going friendship with Pastor Kirk, the Cleavers and other members made his life complete.
His last years were spent at Ranchwood Nursing Center in Yukon, Oklahoma where he looked forward to his annual “Come and Go” birthday party. His guests included family and friends, residents, staffers and often special guests such as members of the Yukon fire and police department. And he epically enjoyed the newspaper reviews of this yearly event.
On November 15, 2020, the wonderous life of Jimmy Haynes came to its mortal end. We who knew him trust that, without stretched arms extended from a truly Prue heart, he entered the welcoming realm of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
