The Lord called Don A. Wright Sr. home on March 11th, 2021. Don was the son of Jethro and Ada Wright of Gans, Oklahoma. Born July 10, 1935, Don was one of 13 siblings. He grew up in Oklahoma and California as his family's business included travel.
There were few things Don enjoyed more than a good Western. He was an avid reader of Louis L'Amour's fiction and loved watching a John Wayne movie. The Western ideal of facing danger and hardship with a taciturn persistence resonated deeply in his life and experience. Don served his country as a soldier in the United States Army.
He raised three sons and a daughter whom he loved very much. He was gentle mostly and taught by example. Don loved his wife Dawn and they both enjoyed being introduced as Don and Dawn.
Throughout Don's life he was known for his wit and ability to bring humor to almost any situation good or bad. He brought his wit and tenacity to any occupation he practiced. He was a truck driver for the last 44-years of his career and had also worked in the energy and agriculture industries. In addition to truck driving and farming, Don was the secretary of the James Irrigation District in San Joaquin, California. He will be sorely missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Ruben, Conway, David and Lonnie Wright, his sister Katy and his youngest son Terry Wright.
Don is survived by his wife Dawn Gloria Wright of Yukon, his sons Don A. Wright Jr. and David Wright of California and his daughter Melissa and her husband Don Brock of Tulsa.
