Delores Seymour Obituary

Delores Elaine Seymour (Dee) passed away April 6, 2024, at her home in Yukon after a short illness. She was born August 6, 1941, to Edward and Anna (Yeck) Svejkovsky and grew up at 429 Holly in Yukon. Dee was an outstanding student and excelled at dancing. She graduated from Yukon High School in 1959, as valedictorian of her class, then attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of Alpha Phi sorority. She worked for Aero Commander at Wiley Post Airport and in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her love of aircraft and flying continued throughout her life. She was a member of Civil Air Patrol for many years, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and participated in many missions across the state/the country.

Dee married Charlie Seymour in 1968, and she was devoted to him and their sons, enjoying time spent with her children and their activities. She worked for a time as a real estate agent. She and Charlie loved to travel and made trips to many places including North Carolina, Seattle, Port Aransas, and the New England states.

Dee was 100 percent Czech and very proud of her heritage. She was a lifelong member of Lodge Jan Žižka #67 Better Life (formerly WFLA), Sokol Karel Havliček, and Yukon Czech Hall. She served as Yukon Czech Hall Treasurer and Trustee and was a regular volunteer at the Saturday night polka dances for as long as she was able. Dee organized the Yukon Czech Hall booth at the Oklahoma Czech Festival for many years with her husband and brother-in-law. She was also a member of Oklahoma Czechs, Inc.

Dee was a third generation Yukon resident, with her grandchildren being the fifth generation of her family to reside in Yukon. She enjoyed intellectual conversations and debate, playing bridge, and spending time with her family. She was artistic, seen in her paintings and even gift-wrapping skills. Her handwriting was beautiful! She was a hard worker and problem solver, and she loved animals, especially birds of all kinds. She was passionate about fighting for justice and freedom and had a beautiful spirit.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene and Bob Visel, and LaVerne and Victor Benda. She is survived by: her sons and daughters-in-law Mark and Carla Guinn; Chris and Stacie Seymour; Greg Seymour and stepson Gary Seymour; her grandchildren Cade Seymour; Rachel Seymour; Nick Seymour and wife Caroline Seymour; Alicia Abla and husband Brandon Abla; nieces Elaine Benda; Karen Benda and husband Eric Stomberg; and many cousins and friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Ingram, Smith, & Turner Mortuary in Yukon, OK. Memorials may be made to Yukon Czech Hall. Dee was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, and she will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
