Dean Bushey Obituary

Dean Earl Bushey, 64, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021.

Dean was born on September 14, 1956, in Grand Junction, Colorado to Kenneth and Barbara Bushey. Dean’s father was in the United States Air Force which provided an opportunity for Dean to live in many exciting places as he was growing up.

Dean graduated from Noble High School in 1974. After high school, Dean served a two-year Spanish-speaking mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in California. He loved his time as a missionary and was grateful for the opportunity to serve the Lord.

During high school, he played basketball and baseball. Dean was a life-long sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed watching OU football. Dean supported his children in sports and coached his son’s baseball team for several years. Dean also enjoyed fishing, golfing, and camping. While fishing with his grandchildren, Dean made many wonderful memories.

Dean retired from the Hartford Insurance company. He had a variety of jobs throughout his teen and adult life which provided him a unique perspective on life and people.
Dean married his sweetheart Vicki and they were blessed with two children and seven grandchildren. Dean's greatest joys were his family and his service to the Lord. Over the past several years Dean experienced many health challenges. Not once did he complain about his limitations. He felt blessed for his circumstances. Dean leaves many family and friends with happy memories of him and their time together. Dean was noted by family for his “joke telling” ability. He would begin laughing before the end of the joke making it more amusing than the actual joke itself.

Dean is survived by his loving wife, Vicki; his son Ryan (Cami) Bushey of California; his daughter Meredith (Byron) of Oklahoma; and seven grandchildren: Duane Hunt, III, Camden Bushey, Benson Hunt, Haddley Bushey, Sadie Hunt, Parker Bushey and Sallie Hunt. Dean also leaves behind his mother, Barbara Bushey; brothers David (Mary Joy) Bushey, Douglas (Rochelle) Bushey, and Daniel (Debbie) Bushey; and two sisters Debbie Bushey, Darci (Ron) Bartlett. He also is survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
