David “Dave” Byard, born November 2, 1951, in Memphis, Tennessee, passed away January 4, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force from March 23, 1971, to March 31, 1995, retiring as a Master Sergeant. His service included assignment to the 552nd Training Squadron at Tinker Air Force Base. He later worked as a contractor with Boeing/DRG until retiring in 2015.
Dave married Paula Fithian in Sacramento, CA on October 13, 1973, sharing 52 years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Clarice Byard, and his brother, Wayne Byard. He is survived by his wife, Paula of Oklahoma City; his son Aaron and wife Beth of Greenwood, Arkansas, and their children Hawk, Bear, and Coco; and his son Daniel and wife Tori of Moore, Oklahoma, and their daughter Abigail; as well as his sister, Fay and her husband John Haddock of Memphis, Tennessee. He is also survived by special nieces and nephews, along with many friends and crew dawgs he considered family.
In keeping with his generous spirit and lifelong desire to help others, Dave donated his body to medical science.
Dave’s life was one of service—to his country, his family, and all who knew him. He will be remembered with deep respect, gratitude, and love.
