Curtis Dean Schroeder

Curtis Dean Schroeder, 76, of Yukon, OK ended his earthly journey on January 31, 2023. Curtis was born to Richard and Lorene Schroeder in El Reno, OK on December 1, 1946. He then moved to Yukon, OK in 1963, where he attended Yukon High School and found his love for farming and agriculture. Curtis was drafted following high school but could not serve due to his high blood pressure. He said his blood pressure was too high because he was scared to death. Soon after, Curtis began his career as a fireman with the Yukon Fire Department in 1972 where he served as a driver until his retirement in 2002. Following retirement, he went on to drive a semi-truck for several years while continuing to farm and raise cattle.

Curtis and Peggy met while they were both working for the City of Yukon, marrying in 1986. Loving to watch NASCAR and stock car racing, Curtis even took Peggy to a stock car race on their first date. Curtis also enjoyed hunting coyotes with his greyhound dogs and keeping up with his buddies from the Fire Department. He didn't mind when any of the kids wanted to go for rides on the 4-wheeler through the pasture or crawl around on the tractors. It was never determined if the kids or Curtis had more fun popping firecrackers every 4th of July.

Curtis is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lorene, and son, Steve Johnson. Curtis is survived by his wife, Peggy Schroeder; daughter, Falecia & Keith Carpenter; daughter, Rhonda & J.C. Dennis; brother, Wayne & Mary Schroeder; brother, Gene & Mary Schroeder; grandchildren, Taylor & Morgan Johnson, Justin & Lisa Carpenter, Trey & Taylor Dennis, Zachary & Kayla Dennis, Abigail & Hunter Fortune, and Quinn Dennis; and eight great grandchildren.

Curtis Dean Schroeder will be honored with a visitation on Monday, February 6, 2023, from 10 am - 2 pm at Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary in Yukon. His service will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 10 AM at Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary with burial to follow at the Yukon Cemetery.
