Carolyn Sue (Peck) Wilson, age 78, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away after a sudden illness on December 19, 2024, surrounded by family and loved ones. Carolyn was born on December 16, 1946 in Oklahoma City to the late George and Juanita (Foust) Peck. Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her love for her family was immeasurable. She was known for her sharp wit and ability to solve the toughest of problems. Her radiant smile brightened every room she entered.
A proud graduate of Capitol Hill High School, Carolyn began her work career as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Carolyn progressed within Southwestern Bell into the management ranks with her intellect and charming personality. At age 45, she chose to take early retirement from Southwestern Bell and joined her husband, Mike Wilson, managing a 2,400 acre ranch in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Together, they managed the ranch for the absentee owners enjoying time in the San Juan mountains which adjoined the ranch. Carolyn’s fondest memories were hunting prairie dogs, digging Mike’s backhoe out of several feet of mud and riding snowmobiles all over the property. In 1998, Carolyn and Mike returned to their home state and spent their remaining years enjoying retirement.
Carolyn was one of five children, and is survived by her husband of 41 years, Mike Wilson, daughter, Merrie Lynn Vaughan and her husband Steve of Salt Lake City, UT, two stepdaughters, Melissa Wilson Young and her husband Olan of Lafayette, CO and Michele Wilson of Oklahoma City, OK; her four beloved grandchildren, Wes, Laurabelle, Zeke and Laney; Preceding her in death were her brothers Wendell Peck and Charles Peck; she is survived by her brother Eddie Peck of Oklahoma City, OK and sister, Myrna Nikkel of Spokane, WA; as well as numerous great grandkids, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 30, 2024, at the Ingram, Smith and Turner Chapel at 201 E. Main St. in Yukon, OK. Family and friends are invited to share their memories and stories of Carolyn’s incredible life. Carolyn’s legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family and God will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
