Carol Hames was born August 23, 1938, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and passed away June 17, 2022, in Oklahoma City after an extended illness. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1956 and married Jess Hames, the love of her life, that same year. She called Oklahoma City her home for most of her life but lived several years as a young adult in Oceanside, California while Jess served in the U.S. Marine Corps and in Los Angeles, California. They returned to Oklahoma in 1962 and raised their family in Oklahoma City and Yukon. Carol and Jess moved to Southlake, Texas in 1986 and lived there until 2015, when they returned to Yukon, Oklahoma.
Carol thrived as a homemaker and mother, but also enjoyed a career as an administrative assistant. She worked in the human resources department at Altec Lansing in Oklahoma. In Texas, she worked for The Nostalgia Channel and various defense contractors - her last contract position worked within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Fort Worth, Texas.
She is survived by her four children: William Mark Hames and wife Dodie of Trinidad, Colorado; Michael Ray Hames of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Connie Lynn Garner and husband Tom of Yukon, Oklahoma; and Matthew David Hames and wife Kathy of Phoenix, Arizona. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christopher Garner and his wife Rosie, Jessica Garner, Alex Hames and Justin Hames, and her sister, Kathy (Collins) Barney of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She has a large extended family including numerous nieces and nephews.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Jesse Ray Hames, her parents, William James Collins and Bertha Grace (Sloan) Collins and one grandchild, Wendy McAlphine.
Services will be held Friday, July 1, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary, 201 East Main Street, Yukon, OK 73099.
