Betty was a lover of life and beauty - she rejoiced in all her friends and family. Betty loved to read. She read constantly - sometimes a book a day. She loved reading Medical dictionaries - she read every medical article she could get her hands on and was a go to for our family for sickness and wholistic healing. She also loved to write. Through “This Great writer” she Wrote Betty's Corner for the museum and may stories of her past. Betty was the life of every party - always uplifting and loving and she loved to give parties and tell stories to her guest.

Betty liked starting and leading new projects. She was instrumental in the creation of the Piedmont Historical Society., Always wanting to be a teacher, she went to college in the late 60's to get her degree. She was Co-founder and an active member of the Piedmont historical museum; serving as President, Vice President and Assistant VP. She became Piedmont Woman of the Year, which exemplified all that was important to her. Betty Survived WWII, the Great Depression, and the death of 2 of sons.

Betty loved colors, especially pink and blue and purple. She loved flowers. African violets and Iris were her favorite. Betty was known for taking flowers to friends when she visited.

Betty enjoyed church and fellowship. She had a solid strong belief in God. The strength of her belief was so song, she lost 2 of her sons and still after a time had faith and remained an enduring and shining example for others. Betty left this world with the confidence she would see her loved ones in heaven.

Betty leaves a legacy to her loving family and friends, of being an example of God’s love, and her determination for always finding a way to help others. She leaves behind her passion for preserving history so people might have a better understanding and greater appreciation for the work and sacrifice of the generations that came before us.
