Betty Shedrick had a big heart, a compassionate spirit, and would go out of her way to help anyone.
It is with the deepest sorrow we mourn the recent passing of Betty. She passed from this life at the age of 78, on October 3, 2020. She was born on March 13, 1942, to Al and Louella Shedrick of Yukon, Oklahoma.
Betty had many titles in her life: sister, friend, teacher, and volunteer. She taught 30 years in the Oklahoma City Public Schools at Western Village and Quail Creek Schools. She volunteered at Brit-Vil Food Pantry and the Gift Gallery at Integris Baptist Hospital for many years. Over 13,000 hours was dedicated to Integris.
Betty graduated from Yukon High School in 1960 and received a Bachelors of Education degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1964.
Betty was a charter member of the Happy OK Wanderers Motorhome Club and loved to travel the world. She was an avid baker: pies were her specialty and loved by all. Betty had been a member of Village Baptist Church since 1969. She also touched many lives during her stay at Tuscany Village Nursing Center.
Betty is survived by her twin sister, Frances Bornemann; Frances’ daughters DeAnn Atallah and husband John, and Chanda Williams and husband Wayne; brother Bob Shedrick and wife Betty Faye, daughter Shelley Bates, and son Robert Matthew and wife Amy; brother Gene Ross Shedrick and wife Ronda, daughter Dawn Folmar, and son Dustin and wife Morgan; good friend and roommate of 55 years, Lois Austin, and dear friend Shirley Thurman.
