Betty Dan Kelley (Post), 92, beloved Mother and Grandmother, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023 in Yukon, Oklahoma. She had been a resident in Yukon since October 2011 when she moved into Spanish Cove Retirement Center.
Betty was born in Abilene, Texas on September 5, 1930 to Daniel Herman Post and Mary Pearl Gladden Post. She shared this birthday with her identical twin sister, Mary Ann.
Betty grew up in Abilene, graduating from Abilene Christian High School and attending Hardin Simmons College. Betty became a school teacher, teaching first-grade. She was well loved by all of her students.
While at Hardin Simmons College, she met the love of her life, Gene Marlo Kelley. They married in April 1951 and enjoyed over 58 years of marriage until Gene's passing on August 5, 2009. To this union, they welcomed two sons, Gene Michael and Patrick Marlo. They lived in Abilene, Duncanville and Irving, Texas.
For many years, Betty and Mary enjoyed attending the International Twins Convention throughout the United States, often winning top awards.
Gene and Betty also enjoyed going to their ranch in Lometa, Texas. It was their getaway from the busy city. They hosted many family and friends for holidays and get togethers, including deer hunting which Betty said she always got the first deer.
Preceding her in death includes her parents, her loving husband Gene, and twin sister Mary. Those who wait to see her again include her sons and their families: Gene Michael Kelley and wife Linda from Brooksville, Florida; and Patrick Marlo Kelley and wife Charlotte from Yukon, Oklahoma; granddaughters: Susie Williams and husband Trevor from Tecumseh, Oklahoma; Kim Rollins and husband Beau, from Moore, Oklahoma; Elayna Sanchez and husband Bobby, from St. Pete, Florida; Renae Lyons and husband Cole, from St. Pete, Florida; step grandson, Trey Dyer and wife Ashley from Yukon, Oklahoma; great grandchildren include: Abby Marlo, Trent and Cale Condict, Madison, Aliyah, Simone, Ruby and Ethan Rollins, Sydney Sanchez, Lanna, Clara and Nora Lyons, Quaid, Remi and Riggs Dyer; sister Gloria Sealey from California; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Betty will be held Friday, August 18, 2023, from 10:00am to 2:00 pm at Ingram, Smith and Turner Funeral Home in Yukon, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Bear Creek Cemetery in Euless, Texas at 2:00 pm.
