Betty "Jane" (Kouba) Hill, 93, went to her heavenly home to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her husband, Wade, on January 13, 2022. Jane was born July 9, 1928, to Willie and Emma (Masopust) Kouba in Yukon, Oklahoma, on a farm west of town on Vandament Ave between Garth Brooks Boulevard and Frisco Road.
She attended school at Shell Creek and Yukon schools, where she graduated in 1946. She was active in band, playing her grandfather, James Masopust's baritone, as well as the clarinet and piano. She loved to dance at the Czech Hall in Yukon, and often danced the Besseda - the Czech national dance. She was active in the Czech gymnastics organization, Sokol, and performed with this group locally, as well as in Texas, Nebraska, and at Soldiers Field in Chicago. She was very proud of her Czech heritage.
After high school, she attended Hills Business College in Oklahoma City and worked as a secretary in various companies. In May of 1956, Jane and several of her lady friends were on their way to Dallas for a convention, and they took a detour which took them through Madill, Oklahoma where Jane met Wade. She married Wade Douglas Hill on April 27, 1957, at Council Valley Baptist Church in Yale. Jane accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior on August 16, 1959. She was baptized at Portland Ave Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. To this union were born two sons in Oklahoma City: Gregory Wade born February 24, 1959, and Bradley Kirk born July 26, 1962.
In 1964 the family moved to the San Luis Valley near Center, Colorado. They farmed, had rock picking services, and had an automatic transmission shop. The family joined Calvary Baptist Church in Monte Vista, Colorado where she taught Sunday school for 1st through 3rd grade students. Since she had not gone to Sunday school or church as a child, God allowed her to grow in the Lord as she studied the Bible and taught those children. In July of 1976, the family moved to Adair, Oklahoma where they farmed and raised cattle, as well as operated an automatic transmission shop in Pryor. They joined the First Baptist Church in Adair.
In May of 1984, Wade and Jane moved back out to their farm near Center, Colorado. Greg and Brad had finished college and were both working in Oklahoma. Wade and Jane continued to farm, had the rock picking service, and the automatic transmission shop. Jane was the librarian and assistant church clerk for Calvary Baptist Church in Monte Vista. She was active in their senior adult group. In May of 1998, Wade and Jane retired and moved to Yukon, Oklahoma. They joined the First Baptist Church where Jane was a member at the time of her death. Wade passed away on February 26, 2008. In November of 2016, Jane sold her home and moved in with her son Bradley and daughter-in-law Yvonne in Moore, Oklahoma.
Jane had a very deep love for her husband and family. She also loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jane's desire was to serve Him and share His love with everyone she knew. God's gift of her two sons was her greatest blessing. They are both wonderful Christian men and have made her a very proud mom. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren are a joy beyond compare. She loved to sing and make a joyful noise, especially songs praising Jesus and God. She was a member of the Oklahoma Czech Lodge ZCBJ #67 where she helped bake Kolaches. She was also active in the Silver Chords of the Yukon Senior Center, singing at nursing homes.
Jane is preceded in death by her husband of 50 precious years Wade Hill; her parents Willie and Emma Kouba; and her brother George Kouba and sister-in-law Lil Kouba. Those who await to reunite with her again include her sons Gregory Hill and wife Susan of Tulsa, OK, and Bradley Hill and wife Yvonne of Moore, OK; grandchildren Sarah Senecal and husband Tim, Stephanie Hill, and Nathan Hill and wife Grace; great grandchildren Addie, Titus, Ellie, Karson, and Leo; and many other family and friends.
Jane's life will be remembered on January 22, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary with burial to follow at the Yukon Cemetery.
