Bette Brooks Obituary

Bette Lou Brooks passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 92.

Bette was born to parents Jewel and Henry Wilmoth on September 6, 1932 in Oklahoma City, OK. She grew up in Oklahoma City where she attended school graduating from Classen High School.

Bette went on to attend Central State College where she met Jackie Brooks. The two were married July 31, 1953 and went on to share 35 years of marriage together. Bette was blessed to be the mother of three children Teresa Lynn, Karen Ann, and Jeffrey David. Her favorite role of all was being Grandma to her six grandchildren and Gigi to her seven great grandchildren.

Throughout Bette's life, she was known for her love for her family, quiet disposition, and love of reading books. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Bette is survived by her daughter Karen Shropshire and husband Michael; grandson Jason Darrow and wife Charlie; granddaughter Lorie Murray and husband Brandon; granddaughter Shannon Dixon and husband Josh; granddaughter Madison Brooks; grandson Josh Brooks and spouse Abigail; grandson Jacob Brooks, great grandchildren Aubrey, Camdyn, Colton, Reed, Eli, Jackson, and Caden; sister Louise Fent; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bette is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years Jackie; daughter Terry Queen; son Jeff Brooks; parents Jewel and Henry Wilmoth; brother Henry Wilmoth, Jr.; sister Doris Ogden; brother James D. Wilmoth; and sister Dianna Tucker.

Bette will live on in the memories of her friends and family and will be missed by all who loved her.
