Barbara Ann (Wood) Blanton

Barbara Ann Blanton passed away on October 17, 2022, in Yukon, OK at the age of 86. Barbara was born to parents James and Mamie Wood on July 2, 1936 in Cordell, OK.

Lealon Coleman Blanton and Barbara Ann Wood married on November 14, 1952. They welcomed four children to their family: three daughters and one son. Barbara was a busy woman all her life. She enjoyed helping others. She taught Bible School, Sunday school and drove a John Deere tractor to help with the farm work. She made wedding cakes: the largest was for 300 people. She also made clothes for her husband, daughters and her son. She even made her two older daughters' wedding dresses and the bridesmaid dresses. She gardened and canned and dressed out chickens.

She had fun doing and making things for all her grandkids. She taught a crochet class and worked as a volunteer at the voting booths for 10 years. Besides crochet, she enjoyed putting puzzles together and playing her piano. When she could not stand long enough to do her puzzles, she started working on them on her computer. Chocolate and a diet Coke would also give her joy!

In 1965, she packed up her family and moved to Oklahoma City. She worked at Western Electric for 7 ½ years. Then in 1972, they moved to their forever home in Yukon. They attended Trinity Church for many years. She cooked on Wednesday evening for the church and would feed up to 110 people or more, making homemade hot rolls for everyone. She started the Mission Society at Trinity Church and also was a docent for 2 years at the governor's mansion. She made a crocheted tablecloth for Governor David Walters' wife after they lost their son in 1991. Everyone who knew and loved her will miss her dearly.

Barbara Ann Blanton is preceded in death by her husband Lealon, son James, sister LaDonna, and her parents. Barbara is survived by her daughters Kathy Walker, Vicki and husband David Freeman, and Sharon Blanton; grandchildren Ted, Jeffery, Curtis and wife Leslie, Shane and wife Rosey, David II, Michael, Jacob and wife Serina, Jesse, Barbara and husband Jonathan, Andrew, Matthew, and Caleb; great-grandchildren Emmie, Benjamin, Samuel, Trey, Averi, Kyler, Grace, David III, Zachery, Saige, Shawn, Shelby, Shayna, Shavy, Kaci, Victoria, and Chloe; along with her sister Sherry and husband Joe Summers.

Barbara's life will be remembered on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 2 PM at Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary with burial to follow at Yukon Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022, from 4 - 8 PM at Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary. Services are under the direction of Ingram, Smith and Turner Mortuary in Yukon, OK.
