Antone "Tony" Ray Kouba beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather, peacefully passed away at home on November 13, 2021 at the age of 91. He was born to parents Anton Kouba and Alice Dobry Kouba on November 1, 1930 in Yukon, OK. He grew up in the Yukon area and graduated from Yukon High School in 1948. Tony completed a bachelor's program at OSU and married his wife of 68 years, Beth Lang. Tony and Beth raised four children, whom they loved very much.
Tony was commissioned in the U.S. Navy and served as navigator aboard the USS Karin in the Pacific theater. Tony and his family moved around the country for 20 years as he pursued his career as a sales/advertising representative. In 1969 his career brought them to Oklahoma. Six years later he began farming, and raising sheep and Great Pyrenees dogs.
From 1990-2000, Tony served five terms as an Oklahoma State Representative. While serving in the legislature, he received numerous awards including Legislator of the Year from the OK State Troopers, the H.B. Frank Citizen of the Year, and the Directors Award by the Association of County Commissioners.
Tony was a Rotarian and past president of the Oklahoma Czechs Inc. He served on the Board of Directors of Yukon National Bank, the Gary Miller Juvenile Justice Center Advisory Board, and the Integris Canadian Valley Hospital Foundation Board.
Tony loved OSU football; vacationing in Lake City, Colorado; and spending time with family. Tony will be missed by all who knew him and loved him dearly.
Tony Kouba is preceded in death by his parents Anton and Alice Kouba, and sister Eileen Yowell. He is survived by his wife Beth Kouba; children Jana Converse (Steve), Corby Poursaba (Matt), Tim Kouba, and Toni Hankins (Ralph); grandchildren Philip Norwood, Jeremy Norwood, Sholeh Keeler, Leida Schimmer, Seanna Grantham, Melissa Chapman, and Michael Hewitt; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A service to honor Tony Ray Kouba’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at 2 PM at Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary in Yukon. Viewing will be held from 12 pm - 2 PM before the service. Burial will follow at the Yukon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Yukon Sharing, 4 N. 6th St., Yukon, OK 73099 or a charity of your choice.
